Snippets From The Fashion Month, Part I

You know what they say; all good things come to an end. The fashion month came and went in a blink of an eye and had everyone waiting with bated breath to see what the fashion houses had in store for Fall/Winter 2014. You know, so we have an idea of how our outfits and accessories will be dictated for the latter half of the year. As much as we'd like to think that we dress independently of external influences, what the designers put out there do trickle down to high street level and end up on our backs whether we're aware of it or not (kudos to those of you out there that try and buck the trend).

To avoid rambling on any further, I'll get to the point of this post: highlights of the fashion month from our favourite designers!

Saint Laurent
Slimane still seems very much into the rock and roll aesthetic that he rebranded Saint Laurent with when he took over, sending models traipsing down the runway in thigh grazing dresses and skirts in variations of red plaid, slate grey and black, complete with dark kohl-rimmed eyes, all in good taste of course. What also stood out from the collection were the cheeky short embellished shift dresses that are reminiscent of the 60's, a nod to a pivotal time in women's dressing.

Givenchy
Tisci offers a juxtaposition of nature-influenced prints and sharp tailoring that will have you looking right at home in a concrete jungle this time round. What stole the show was the last look (rightfully so), that brings to mind a whimsical vision of birds of paradise, while being grounded by a sleek silhouette and bold makeup that almost has an architectural feel to it.

In a bid to avoid too lengthy a post, more in the next! Have a great week ahead, ladies J
